Great Big Green Week 2022
The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest call for action on climate change, and will take place from 24 September to 2 October 2022.
Together we will show decision makers that people from all walks of life are stepping up to take action on climate change - and we need them to step up too. The Great Big Green Week is a celebration of community, and the power we have to make a difference for the planet when we work together. We are proud that Kingsbridge is joining in the wave of activity taking place this September and hope you will join in to help your community to create a greener, safer future.
KCA are delighted to be collaborating with some of our brilliant community partners to hold some events during GBGW, as well as helping to showcase some of the great work happening in and around Kingsbridge by talented and sustainable local businesses.
Scroll down to find our program of events throughout the week. Some events will need booking so we know numbers, others you can just rock up and most are free to join.
Mindful Art Workshop with Michelle Mcquinn
Join Community Artist Michelle McQuinn for a mindful and creative workshop responding to climate change: Pause – reflect – create – nourish – act.
Michelle will guide us through some simple meditation practices and invite us to explore our creativity with a variety of mediums, reflecting on our own responses to climate change and a greener future for our town and planet.
Climate change can provoke many reactions and uneasy emotions within us, as well as compassion and hopefulness for the future. This session will help us to unravel some of these thoughts and responses through art. The session will feel very free and exploratory and no artistic experience is necessary.
There will be opportunities throughout the session for simply resting in the present moment - a much needed antidote to the urgency, despair and tendency to project into the future that we often experience when we think about climate change.
As we collectively take action to tackle the challenges ahead, it is vital that we also take time to slow down, pause, reflect and ensure we are tending to our inner worlds as well as our outer world.
